The Long Day of Flight was launched by UNHCR Austria in 2012 and has been held every year since then. On 29 September Südwind, together with other organizations, came up with several initiatives under the theme “Fluchtpunkte” in the Volksgarten Linz insights into the complex topic of flight. Exhibitions, films, a reading island, music, culinary delicacies, information stands, living books and many other activities offered information, exchange, entertainment and encounter for all people interested.
In addition to this general program, there was also a special program for schools called “School of Flight”. After an introduction to the topic, the participants went through short workshops and could get information independently from the organizations represented. There were opportunities for discussion and exchange with refugees.
