Esther Benbassa is Professor of Modern Jewish History at École Pratique des Hautes Études, one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in the world. In 2002 she founded the Alberto Benveniste Center, dedicated to the study of Sephardi culture/History and to the comparative History of minorities.

She´s an expert on Jewish History, but she talks to us about Muslims and refugees in Europe nowdays. Her porwerful message tell us we must learn from the past to be able to move forward. “We can´t live closed in our frontiers” she says, the European project is a project of solidarity and “we have no other way”.
